Most of those were/are made out of an old, worn out Hoof Rasp used when shoeing horses.The trick is to sell the art piece for enough money to pay for a new Rasp! Your friend is very good at smithing, as those "rattle snakes" are not easy to do. We tried a few of them at a blacksmith guild meeting a while back without much success.Joe L.
