Dave,
Like I said, I DROVE a truck with a 265ci, dual carbs and dual exaust, 4.89 gears. There is no real difference in the power that I could notice from a stock 230. It would do 55 MPH on the road but it was at the end of it's power curve. If you want HP, go to a V8. It's more economical HP considering all the mod you will have to do to put it in a 230 truck. And you will not retain the value of the truck by keeping the flathead, because it's not the "original" 230. Just my opinion from what I've seen around here. To me, a well built Helitool truck is worth more than a restored "original" truck, but I'm definatly not in the majority on that opinion. And I own original equiped trucks, so the grass is always greener...!
If you can find a PW for under $1000 with no motor or a blown motor, why not make a project out of it and build it?
I would not take a good, running original truck and cut it up though.
Are my opinions clear as mud or what?
