Actually, Saints are one of the moerefecient animals.
Certainly they ate a lot as pups;IIRC it was 6 lbs of food to produce a pound of dog. But when grown they ate surprisingly little.
Unfortunately its difficult to find healthy stock these days. Hip displasia etc has them in the 5.5 yr average life span. Far too short a time for one of those wonderful animals.
