People are always fasinated by those of us who reach beyond our normal human abilities. This extends to the Space Program and rightfully so. However if any had a clue, as do you and I, of the sacrifices and efforts beyond our normal human ability of our service personnel. Perhaps they too would get the recognition when their lives are lost. It is funny what spurs interest in these events. An entire company getting wiped out may not raise an eyebrow, yet one pilot shot down and rescued in Bosnia makes headlines for days. The Clinton administration screwed up in Somalia and that episode of heroism took years to be recognized because that administration wanted it kept quiet. The Space Program is much too public to be kept secret. I do know that when I joined, I did it for my country, for duty, and not for fame. But it made me proud that our troops were given parades after Desert Storm, and not spit at as I was after Vietnam. As a nation we are "led" to points of view by "news" reports. We are at the mercy of the slant of the reporters. It is the duty of every American to become informed and educated so that our system will survive manipulation and the leftist slanted network "news".
