Most hobby shops will carry a liquid masking material for painting model boats/cars/airplanes etc. It is applied with a fine brush before painting, and peeled off after the paint is applied. It is most extensively used in the radio control car hobby to mask areas inside of the clear polycarbonate bodies when spray painting.
