The entire world has seen images of the two shuttle disasters. I want to share a happier image.

I am 65 years old and am filled with wonder at the great technology of a free society. I can remember running outside to watch the first jet airplanes flying over my home. Now, like a child, I still set my alarm and go outside to watch the Shuttles flying over Kempner, TX, on their usual landing path. Sometimes I am disappointed when clouds block my view. But those times when the sky is clear, I stand in awe and gaze at the miracle and beauty of this wonder. Once I saw the Shuttle in orbit when the weather and light was just right. I have also gazed skyward and watched Tellstar. I don't limit my sky watching to manmade objects. I always go outside to watch the meteor showers that the scientists predict.

I am happy to have seen the Shuttles in flight on some of their many successful missions. This sustains me at a time like this. So I say to all of you, "Go outside and look toward the heavens and rejoice in the wonders there. Share the joy and wonder that all our brave astronauts have felt. Be one with them and pray for all of them."
