I just did this process on my 58 powergiant. the process is as follows: start with the highest spot first(run hand along area.
heat dime size area up to straw red. use dolly on back side of metal and on front side use slapper file( "s" shaped bastard file) and slap heated area with a pulling slap. the file will grab the metal and pull the stress. cool with a wet rag. repeat the process starting with the next highest spot.
becareful not to cool red hot metal too quickly...you will work harden the panel. if panel is oil-canned, you must first hammer it out. stetching it is ok because you will shrink it anyway. use a pick hammer and sanding disc to remove very small high spots. hope this helps.
