What year is your truck? If it has an electronic carb. Basically it is a limited function feedback carb.It uses a computer and dwell soleniods to adjust the carb. Before fuel injection, the manufactors were trying to get emissions down. So what they did was put a duty cycle switch on the idle circuit of the carb and its job was to try and adjust the fuel mixture of the carb and change it as required by turning this solenoid on and off. I wouldn't really suggest trying to adjust it because you need to set the dwell cycle of the solenoid as well as getting the CO ( carbon monoxide) levels right and that can get tricky. Also I would suggest making sure that the timing chain is properly adjusted. If you have a service manual, it will show you how to adjust the chain. It is pretty easy because there is an access cover that you can take off and get to the adjuster. The reason I say this because if the engine runs too long with a loose chain and the chain stretchs too much it gets very expensive to replace the chain and guides. This only applies to vehicles with higher mileage. Other than that, it is a really solid truck. Fun to pound on too.
