Hi Chris,

Glad to see you are back with an M-37. I have used several other carbs on my truck. All of them are better than the stock one. Usually the difference between the hole spacing is not so different that you can't just rat tail file the carb base to fit your stud spread. On many of the carb bases the holes are oblong to fit ether spread. Generally the linkage setup is what you have to worry about as they will be 1/4 turn different from one another. Not a big deal.

You did not mention what carburetor you are trying to use. This would help. I personally like the civilian Zenith one barrel (rebuild kits are still available) and it will drop on with no modifications. Because of the M-37 low hood I use a Jeep M-38 air cleaner mounted to the firewall and a goose neck to the carb. Gets 14 miles to the gallon.

One barrel carbs are dirt cheap $1.00 or so a car swap meets as no one wants them. I snatch them up where ever I can.

Most these carbs have three basic body sections. The base with a different hole spacing. The center body section with the bowl and small parts. Then the top section that has the intake/air cleaner attachment straight wall or V groove wall. With several of the same carburetors at hand you just mix and match the parts to fit what ever engine/truck setup you are using. That's why I like the Zenith carbs. Another reason is that the venturi diameters are different from carb to carb and just slip in and out on the zenith. You just slip in a diameter to suit you. The main jets are adjustable as well. You can dial in and fine tune the carb to fit your needs.

Call or email me if you need additional help.
