The 99¢ store razor knives (plastic with a slide-out, break-away blade)work well for siping and v-grooving. I have extensively siped and v-grooved the crossbars and center ridge (diagonally across the center ridge) on NDCC's and it makes a big difference on dry, wet and ice, none in the snow. CAUTION: don't cut between the blocks and don't let the knife slip in between them because the plies are right below the surface. It is slow, but no slower that the grooving tool.
