I used to run my own little wordworking shop making one off and prototype furniture.

I had several Dewalt tools as they worked better then the general tools(porter cable, milwaukee etc), and were less expensive then the real nice euro stuff(like the Lamello biscuit joiner). But that was in the late 90s, and Milwaukee had some switch trouble then. All my friends kept having to replace the switches in their Milwaukee tools, and my Dewalts kept on going.

After reading specs on the current crop of tools, I am inclined to agree that Milwaukee is better, but there is still the ease of use factor I will have to look at by checking the tools out in person.

By the way, my Dewalt 12V drill(bought before 14.4 was much in use) is still going strong, even though I have used it hard, and dropped it many times, once hard enough to shift the brushes out of place(off the top of a 8 foot ladder onto concrete), I put the brushes back, and it is still going strong.

But in the end if you talk to enough people you will find someone who likes almost any maker of tools above all others.

In my case I buy the one I think it best of the type I need.

Eric
