Mark, You just can't beat Acrylic Enamel for fade resistance, but I'd definitely use Epoxy primer. Tough call on the amounts. Believe it or not, to paint my WDX including box, I've used almost 4 gallons of color! Well, I used Endura Poly Eurethane, so I bought 2 gallons of color & 2 gallons of hardner thinking that would be tons....to my surprise, I'm not sure I have enough left to finish. I've done my painting in stages, which leads to much wastage. If your planning to hang everything & paint it at once, inside outside & underneath, I'm sure you can get away with less than a gallon for what you want to paint, but this is very difficult unless you have a very large area & spray booth. You'll be very surprised just how many parts you have to paint once you start hanging!
I'd buy a gallon of color & a gallon of primer.
Have fun!
