Your axle problems sound exactly like mine last year. I had a NAPA machine shop pull the lower cone bearing off the pin and weld the knuckle prior to replacing bearings and races. I cleaned the gauges from the inside of the knuckle and replaced the bronze bearing that goes in the end of the housing. If your universal joint is too far gone, they are easy to replace.

You should be able to get a whole new axle housing or just the parts you need from Herb Hobie in Roseburg, Oregon. I bought my truck from him and he sent an extra front axle with it, as he new the original was shot. His number is in the Power Wagon Advertiser. Gordon Maney's publication on rebuilding the front axle, transfer case, etc. is indispensible also! Good Luck!
