I'm putting a '46 WDX back together, and was wondering what the consensus was on beds. The truck is down to the frame right now with all the pieces except a bed. I have been considering fabricating my own bed from sheet metal and channel stock. It seems that this would be a more cost effective way to go as I have the original rear fenders and they're in pretty good shape. I know all you PW purists are begining to shake uncontrolably right now, but I am going to convert to 12 volt anyway. Can I use any bed pieces off the 2 WD models of that period? I'm open to ideas, it seems that you need to spend a pretty good chunk of change to get an original and they're going to require quite a bit of reshaping to start with. Tell me what you think.
