Choose your epoxy carefully. Most will not hold up
to continuous exposure to gasoline. There are products
specifically for this purpose, and there's a brand
name general-purpose epoxy, PC-11, that's great stuff.
If you want to get real serious, and you live on the coast,
go to an industrial marine supply place and get the goop
they patch barge hulls with.
