I had the rear main seal area on my 251 crank fixed with a spray weld process. It had rust pits from setting for 25 years. It is my understanding that the offending area is ground uniformly with a cylindrical grinder then spray welded and ground back to the original diameter. Can't hardly tell where it was done. Looks almost identical to the rest of the crank. The machine shop that bored and balanced my block did the job. I don't see why it wouldn't work for a front pulley.
