I looked for a civilan model for 15 years and passed up several M37's along the way. My only parameters were to have a very complete, original truck with winch. After finally buying an M37 W/W, I kick myself all the time for the ones I let slip by. The civvy trucks look great and are fine for collectors but mighty hard to come by in some parts of the country. I also prefer the military electrical system because it is very robust and 24v hasn't caused me any problems. Since I live in Texas, I like the fact I can remove the top and fold the windshield. Top speed, braking and other features are not much different between civvy and Uncle Sam's truck. The winches on either one will pull down a house - I've already used mine three times to recover other vehicles. My 2 cents and good luck with your search. Hollis
