Push down hard and turn to right is correct, but I had heaps of trouble with mine. The steel sleeve with cutouts that holds the button gets a bit rusty so I sprayed heaps of WD/rust loosener in behind the button, left it for a while and kept trying, then repeated the process until it finally came loose. Be careful as that sleeve can bend out of shape.
