I generally use Glyptal paint, can get it from Eastwood Co. (eastwoodco.com, search on glyptal). I've also used POR-15, Rustoleum and Zero-Rust with fine success. They seem to hold up to the oil just fine. The Rustoleum seems to do the best if there is any residual oil, the POR-15 is super sensitive to oil contamination. The purpose is to seal porosity in the castings, which can be a real issue with synthetic oil, as well as sealing in any abrasive particles that did not get removed by your hot tank etc. cleaning. The smooth coating also helps the oil flow to the bottom with new wear particles so they can be picked up by a magnetic plug or drained out. I coat the bores where bearings will go with cosmoline, LPS-3 or grease before painting, so that it's easy to get a clean bore before installig the bearings and seals. Rob
