The culprit was the hard, packed snow - essentially ice. I made a big mistake not airing down the tires. They were recently mounted and had the max rated air - 65#. The tires were not making full contact, but I'm not sure how they will be in ice/hard packed snow, anyways. The impressive thing was the great traction of the all-terrain stock tires on the Ford and other late model trucks that were there. Thanks for the advice.
