Rear Brake backing plate question

I was sandblasting the stripped rear axle housing today and notice that one of the springs that hold the brakes down has been broken off. These are the pieces right over the cam that adjusts the upper portion of the shoes. About a 1" piece of the tip is missing.

Should I be concerned? Anyone ever replace one of these?
