From what I've been told about doing this, the main reason for enlarging the exhaust is to keep the back pressure & exhaust temperature down. If I were to do this I'd definitely install a Pyrometer & monitor the temperature of exhaust before the turbo. Critical temperature is 1350 before big problems occur.
