...between a centered 3/4-ton WWII truck rear axle housing and the offset 1-ton FF Power Wagon axle housing? I don't know the answer to this, just a question. Does anybody know what the Gross Axle Weight Rating is for the 3/4-ton WWII rear axle housing?

Even if the early Power Wagon axle housings had the same rating as the WWII 3/4-ton housings, the Power Wagons went to a heavier duty rear axle housing in the later years (from 5500 lbs to 6500 lbs). The early and later Power Wagon axle housings look the same as each other, but maybe Dodge started using a thicker steel that was not obvious from the outside, or perhaps a stronger steel? Or maybe they just decided that the FF Power Wagon axle housings were actually capable of handling more than they had originally rated them for in the early days?

Just a question for those who might use their trucks to their full weight capacity.

Matt
