The trucks kept nearly the same appearance over the years, with only very minor body changes.

As you will see in the model year detail, the engine changed from a 230 cid flathead 6 to a 251 cid flathead 6. The transmission changed from one non-synchoronized type to another non-synchronized type, and then eventually to a type in which some of the gears were synchronized. The wiring changed over the years, to accomodate more accessories and other changes, and the electrical system was upgraded to 12 volts from the original 6 volt system. Load carrying capacity increased somewhat over the years. Brakes eventually improved a little, with the addition of a dual hydraulic circuit system. The frame, body and driveline were essentially the same throughout the 20+ year manufacturing run, with the obvious exception of the transmissions, as mentioned above.
