Anyone running a centered rear yoke on xfer case?

I have heard a lot about the benifits of going to a centered rear differential. 1, it reduces driveline noise, 2, you only need to bring one spare axle with you (yea, right).
My question is, wont you accomplish the same thing as far as the gear noise goes just by putting on the centered yoke and leaving the stock offset differential axle? I have a couple of spare axle assemblies so I'm not worried about stuff breaking and not being able to make a field repair.
