I purchased a truck with a switched frame and cab, it was checked at a weigh station when the hauler left his 18 wheeler at a stop due to equiptment violation on his haul rig, it was unloaded and taken to a county couthouse impound lot until the title was resolved. This truck was bought off the internet with a title that was incorrect, i had nothing to do with forging the papers, but i had to wait until the dmv ran all the serial numbers thru the system. it takes 2 weeks and i got billed storage, wrecker fees, for it as seller was not around, he collected his money and hauled. All i have ever ment to say is that by not titling the frame Mark is leaving the door open for somebody to do the same if they wanted to. Laws are made to keep honest people honest, crook will not obey the law. The law says the seller should furnish title, inspite of what you went thru i assume you lived in the state where your problem occured, think what somebody who lived out of state had to do to straighten out such a mess. If i save anybody from getting burned in a similar deal its fine with me. Norm see Fred Garvills post about history from a title, as usual you are uniformed and misleading other on the forum, shame on you for not getting up to date on title history. All the numbers are run on a fbi, state, national stolen car data base to see if anything turns up, plus some insurance companies have a private member data base they use that is faster and nationwide. Get educated, i am tired of ignorant title law forum members who think they have the right to do what is easy, How much should Mr. Henry be compensated for the runaround he got, how about me? I still think every truck should be required to have a title to be on this forum. When somebbody who gets burned sues it for helping pass off a truck it will, i hope it never happens. What is so wrong with doing what the law requires, sell a truck furnish a title, buy a truck insist on a title! Have a 3rd party check the vin, mtr, frame, etc before paying, check the title to see what it is, lost tile, bonded, reconstructed, etc and adjust you buying price to reflect it. Mark hope you follow your conscience and washington law, thats all anybody should do. The crowd here is not always right on titles because of the money involved.
