I use a two pronged approch to email. First I create individual folders for the "A-list" people in my life and then create a individual rule for each so that the emails from Aunt Bonnie are automatically sorted to the Aunt Bonnie folder. This makes checking the important stuff easier. You can also create a rule based on the from address of a spamer and have the mail deleted as soon as it comes in. Another slightly more risky way is to open the email and then click on the "Block Sender" option. You will never again see spam from that address.

Doing this, I still have to add about 2 address's per week to the blocked senders list but it only takes a couple of seconds.

Of course I am running Norton using the automatic update and twice weekly full system scans options to try and stay on top of the virus's. So far, there has never been a successful virus infection on my PC using this method.

The bottom line is that no-one should be seeing hundreds of spam mails per day/week. There are tools on your computer that will get them down to manageable amounts (couple per week).

Best Wishes
Lonnie
