I had a radiator rebuilt for my 440 PW, new core, relocated tanks and mounts. It worked ok at outside temperatures of 72 degrees or below. I believe the small area of the stock radiator (even with a thick core) doesn't provide enough cooling. Also the width of the 440 pretty much blocked the airflow through the engine compartment. Heat remained trapped in the engine compartment with no where to go except out the louvres. This problem was somewhat relieved by running with the hood side panels removed. Until I sold the truck I was looking at adding more cooling capacity such as an auxillary radiator or going to aluminum heads ( I was running 915 closed chamber heads). Judging by the picture you posted (snow) you should be ok with any radiator.
