Interesting story here: Back in 1997 I was visiting a friend from out of town who was staying at his Brother's house in the area. His Brother had a Flatfender Power Wagon with snowplow on front, and a PTO winch mounted in the bed. That was the first flatfender Power Wagon I ever saw up close, and I instantly fell in love with it! Well I asked him if he would sell it, and he said no. I was 17 at the time. I never forgot about the truck. Well almost 3 years later I caught wind this fella was having a moving sale, so I went down there to take a look-see at some of his stuff, and he had the Power Wagon for sale! It is fairly complete and ran and plowed but had no brakes. He wanted $1,200 for it and this was in 1999. At the time I had a crappy $7.00 job and I just could not swing it...Bummer. I was quite bummed about it. I had a farmer freind in Northern Michigan who knew the guy selling the Power Wagon. He came down to visit and he bought the truck! Atleast I knew were the truck was and who had it! Over the last 3 plus years, I have been asking my friend if he'd wanna sell the Power Wagon. He said no. 3 months ago, he called me and asked me if I wanted it....I have been kind of tied up buying some farm and heavy equipment lately, and I told him no.... Well 3 days ago, I was chatting with him, and he asked me again if I wanted the Power Wagon. I said, I better pass on it. Well he said he wanted me to have it, but I told him that I would not be able to pay for it, till probably June of next year. He said no big deal, he REALLY wants me to have it. He is even willing to haul it down to me for a reasonable fee. He plans to bring it down within the next 2 months! This looks like the start of a good new year already! The Truck is a 1947 WDX. It was featured in Monty Montgomery's Dodge Power Wagon Photo History book a couple of years ago. Look for a pic or two of it in the book. This is great! It will be a long time before I can start to restore it, but seeing it runs, I can use it on the farm untill I get around to restoring it. This was the first Flat Fender P.W. I ever seen up close and it got me hooked on them. Happy new years everyone!
