Rust. Some M37's were rusters, the B1's were pickled prior to painting so they weren't as bad. Check and make sure rear axle shafts are not twisted off (they're a BITCH to get out if they are) smell for gas in the oil from a leaking fuel/vacuum pump (kills bearings) and signs of water in the gear boxes from fording
