I got a polyethylene tank for my M37 from the local marine supply store. I forget what outfit makes them, but they had a catalog of dozens of size and shapes of these tanks. They're not outboard motor tanks; they're very heavy polyethylene and are designed to be built into various spaces on boats. I fabricated straps and hung it from the homemade wood flatbed of my truck. It looks to be impervious to rust and rock damage. The only disadvantage is all the styles had the fillers on top, which limits your installation options. I think I paid about $100 for an 18 gal tank with fuel gage sender.
