for a 59-63 318 polysphere, been running around doing christmas shopping so i haven't had anymore time to call parts stores( it's been VERY time consuming!)and yesterday i drove 80 miles south of my house looking for power giants(ERIC you should be proud!) so i was gone all day, and NAPA isn't open today! anyhow here's the story again.
I had noticed the other day that my generator was sitting a little cockeyed (my belt overheated and started smoking, I shut the truck down FAST!)upon inspection I noticed the rear end of the generator was tilted inward toward the block. I pulled gently to re-align it with were I believe the old rear mount was...........SNAP!! I didn't pull hard, I knew that it wouldn't stand much shearing force and was trying to be gentle, but I think it would have snapped off on its own eventually anyway. I basically was just trying to realign it with the original mount(these are the cast iron pieces the are actually ON the generator) to see if the belt would line up better,it did,but that doesn't help much now! where can I get a new generator?, or can it be rebuilt with new mounts? Checker wants around 200 bucks for a generator AFTER the core charge of 45 dollars anybody got a cheaper option/parts store?. this is on a polyshpere 318. any help would be appreciated(such as any parts interchanges etc.)are there alternatoir conversion kits for the polysphere engines?
Thanks all, Jason
