Sorry I do not remember the size off hand. Maybe you can check it with an open end wrench to get the size? I believe it may somewhere around 1-1/8". I do not think you will be able to remove enough material from a socket to get it to fit through the radiator. How about trying to fit a socket on the nut from inside the engine compartment and then running just an extension through the radiator?
