At least one rear fender is done!

In reading all of these responses, I have come up with a couple well known thoughts to repeat.

1. Start with the best truck you can find, or afford, $1,000 in shipping is cheap compared to $4,000 in rust repair.

2. Do as much as the work you can yourself to save money, or if you have more money then time(HA!) farm out what you can to good outside vendors.

3. Be realistic about what you CAN do. After all your hard work, is it maybe worth having the final paint shot by a professinal on the truck, or major welding of the frame, etc?

4. Safety first in all things with old trucks, be careful of not only your limbs, but your ears, and your lungs.

5. Have FUN! If you are not enjoying the journey, why are you taking it?

6. Buy a truck that fits your needs, not just because it is close, or the fever is upon you. If what you want is a driver that needs little work, don't by a basket case.

7. Try and share your hobby with others, your wife, children, etc, may all feel better about the time you spend on your truck if they are involved in some way.

Just a few things I have read/thought/decided over the years!

Eric
