Alot of these trucks have replacement engines. Many were worked hard for decades, often in remote areas. Frequently the owner would swap in replacement engines, axles, etc. rather than take the time and money to rebuild. In fact, that's part of their military heritage of interchangeable parts and assemblies.

As for the value of original versus modified, just take a look at the photo classifieds or the trucks on ebay. Trucks with original or correct replacement engines and drivetrains almost always sell for more than conversions no matter how well the modifications were done. There is a truck near me with a very nice body and first series bed, but it's got a 440ci. engine, International drivetrain, and power steering. Guy told me he went 80 mph. on the highway. He died a few years ago and the truck has been at auction at least twice since then. No one really wants it.

Of course, there are exceptions. I think the trucks with large Dodge engines, power steering, and brake kits installed with the conversion kits from Helitool will hold their value.

The gloveboxes were cardboard and are available form Roberts Motor Parts.
