They used synthetic oil in aircrafts during WWII and when Mobile started R&D on Mobile 1, they used it in, of course aircraft engines. They found it lasted 7 times longer than conventional oil. When they first put it on the market, the container advertised it lasted 25,000 miles between changes. Not advertised that way now. I use it in my car and have gone 10,000 between oil changes, but changed the filter at the 5,000 mark. Your going to find that it has superior detergent agents. You will noice a lot of brown fluid mixed with the oil on your first few changes. It's doing its job cleaning out all varnish, gum and the like that conventional oil can't handle. Nothing to worry about, just giving your engine the cleaning it needs. My Jetta has 180,000 miles on it and the cam lobes have no sign of wear. I don't use anything else. Wise decision!
