Today my dreams came true. I finally bought a flat fender Power Wagon. It is a 1959, W300M pickup. It has the original MU 2 winch with it. Best of all, I got it right here in town from a farmer's bone yard. It has a great body on it with no rot, and only one serious dent on the whole truck. The bed sides and tailgate are excellent. It has a slight downward bow in the frame, and the engine is missing some parts and has not run in 12 years. The winch is supposed to be in good condition and the interior is all there, with all the gauges and even the headliner. I paid $1000.00 for it.
I really lucked out on finding this truck. I saw a story in our local paper about one of thenearby VFD's closing down. The story included a file photo from 1985 of this W300M fighting a brushfire. I got the wild idea it might still be at the fire hall. Drove out and looked, and sure enough, it was sitting in the weeds with other trucks and farm equipment behind the barn they used as a fire hall. Turned out, the farmer that donated the space for the fire dept owned it and after a little talking, he sold it to me. Got the title transfered today and took one wheel in to get a tire put on it. Hope to bring it home in a few days.Won't start on it though, until I get my 58 Power Giant finished.
