John, That's what Kieth Wolfe is doing right now. The door pillars and roof on his '55 were really rough. He removed a donor roof all the way down to the lip where the cowl meets the firewall. He welded cross braces to reinforce the cab while removing and replacing the top. I agree that having the doors ready to fit is key.

Kieth prefers to use the original joints where possible, but he is skilled at joining panels as well. He replaced the rear six inches of the cab already and he recently patched in two floor sections that were rotted at the cab mounts. Kieth is going to help me replace floor sections on the WM300. Come down someday soon and you can see his work.
