I think the way you appeal to someone like that is to point out your virtues, and point out the flaws that some of the husbands of her women friends have, like.... drunk every night at the tavern, drunk every night at home, gambling, womanizing... the list goes on.
I think if a woman gives the matter a little thought, it is a pretty wholesome thing for her man to be busily involved with a couple of old trucks. It is a healthy hobby.
The part that has always bothered me about this is that someone could easily spend $30,000 on a boat and trailer, and no one would ever think twice about it, but if you have three trucks that cost a total of $3,000, then that is regarded as waaaay to much. There is no perspective in that. Or, the people who have two new snowmobiles or jet skis, and a trailer, the amount of money invested in that, yet no complaint about that, but spend a fraction of that money on a neat old truck....
It is a matter of rational perspective. Just talk to her about it. It is a resolvable matter. Good luck to you...
