I read an article in the January Petersens that one of the COMBATT trucks being evaluated by the military is a Dodge Ram. These trucks would be modified versions of the civilian Rams. One of the most interesting parts of the article was the mention that the military is considering a commercial lease on the trucks to reduce up front costs. They also feel that there would be a tremendous aftermarket for them when the lease is up in areas such as firefighting, brush, logging and mining industries. Not to mention the avid off-roaders.
The photo of the COMBATT Ram looks truly awesome. I can't help but think that it could be history repeating itself all over again. In 30 or 40 or 50 years will our kids or grandkids be collecting and restoring the COMBATT Rams and parking it next to dads old Power Wagon? One can only hope so!
