He should be okay. Even if he has to get a first year law student to defend him. The prosecution has to prove, beyond reasonable doubt, that there was 'mens rea' (latin for 'criminal mind') or what's refered to as 'criminal intent'. He never intended to pollute any lake, especially 50 years ago, before the EPA came to be. I'm all for the environment, but years ago I called a junkyard to inquire about the possibilities of DeSoto parts (I had a '55 Fireflite Sportsman) and the yard told me they didn't have anything older than about '85. I thought that was strange since they were known for years as 'thee' place to go for old stuff, and when asked he told me the EPA had rules and they would have had to drain every oil pan, tranny, tank, etc. It was easier to just crush the old stuff. If you need a DeSoto trunk deck, or door or some part specific to your old toy, and you can't go to a junkyard, where can we go?!? Fortuneatly we have VPW, Doug Higgins, Judd, Eric B. and others that manage to find and save some of this stuff for our trucks. The mid-west is probably a little bit better/easier at hunting things down than in CA.
