Here's my take on it...I love Mobil 1 Oil. It is definitely the oil to buy if you own a Viper, Ferrari or something that demmands the most out of an oil, but I think you guys are getting a little carried away running it in a Power Wagon. I mean lets be serious here...how many here put even 5000mi/year on their Flat Fenders?
The worst thing for oil is when it is used in a collector vehicle that doesn't get many miles. The oil gets much greater contamination & in this application the very most important thing is regular changes. I change the oil in my WDX every six months, regardless of milage.
I'll bet if I built a 230 engine & ran it with regular 10-30 oil & changed the oil & filter every 6 months, it would run longer than any of us here will live.
Don't get me wrong, Mobil 1 is the best oil & if you can afford to keep pouring it in, go ahead, but it's gross overkill in my opinion. If you want to do your truck a favour, instead of spending twice as much on oil, just change it twice as often.
