I went to Mobil 1 in my Saab 2.3 l turbo engine and went from 3000 mile change intervals on fossil oil to 10,ooo intervals on synthetic.
A bunch of guys on the Saab 9000 forum did oil analysis for wear and convinced mew that this was fine. If you want to go to higher mileage, you need a different filtration system. I would be very wary of the stock flathead Dodge filteration system for extended runs. Heck - I'd like to modify it for full flow and spin on filters - didn't somebody write that up <he said in a senior moment ...>
FWIW, I put 4 oz of Kroil in the last dino juice change to clean the engine and then changed the synthetic at 3k for a couple of cycles to get it clean. Now my oil looks clean at 8k on an engine w 65k miles on it.
