I broke a Craftsman 3/4 drive socket about that same size or bigger trying to loosen a spindle nut on a 4x4 truck front end. Had a 3 foot extension on it though. No injury other than stinging hand, even with gloves. I believe Easco (US made) was making the sockets for Sears when I purchased them. Guy at Sears asked me "What the H#%@ were you working on?" I told him I was trying to adjust my carberator on my leaf blower!

On a side note, put one of my buddies flea market special sockets on that spindle nut and it got it off without breaking. Granted it was twice as thick on the sidewall dimensions but it did do the job. He still won't let me forget it either!
