Siping your tires is done by cutting slits in the tread blocks. This gives the tires much greater area for contact with snow and ice. I have done this on my '87 Dodge CTD and have great results with over 15,000 miles on the siped tires. Most large truck tire stores can do this, but they usually only do this on new tires to avoid embedded rocks in the tread.
