The XZL rides a little bit better on hard surfaces and is a slightly harder rubber compound so it wears a tad bit better on pavement.
If I manage to get any snow this week, I'll let you know how the XZL's handle in snow. I know that the XL's do well in deep, wet snow from past experience.
C. Aarons would be a good source of info on this comparison as he does a lot of driving in winter conditions and has used both tires as well...
