I'll agree with Paul on the HVLP. I am no auto painter but for painting up a old Power Wagon, they seem to do a good job. I bought mine at Eagle hardware for $125. I resprayed my '53 and was a little dissapointed in the finish after 3 coats. Then I looked at the original paint on the inside (truck has 3,800 original miles on it) and realized the the paint job I did had a better finish than the original, so I put on one more coat and left it at that. Dont buy cheap paint is important also. I'm forced to paint outside untill my shop is built and I have my paint room finished.
I worked in a shop from '95-'97 that did Concours class restorations on old Maserati cars (think Khamsin, Merak, Bora, Gibli, GT3000) only. Guys were spending $20,000 on the paint jobs alone! They used the old siphon guns and a lot of elbow grease, but those paintjobs were flawless!
