If you are running the stock carb, there should be a screen right where the fuel line goes into the float bowl. Most people do not know that it is there and it traps a lot of gunk! On the other hand some mechanics would remove it so that the screen would not trap sediments, so instead, the sediments go right into the carb and plug jets and valves.
