the specs for the 1955 model listed 2 wheel sizes
5.50x16 with the 4.89 gears and
6.50x16 with the 5.83 ratio
the 5.50x16 uses a 7.50x16 tire
and the 6.50x16 is made only for the 9.00x16 tires which do not fit the smaller wheel
