I think they stopped using the Dana 70 front in 74
w is for the 4x4
d is for the 2wd
D 60 = dana 60 front axle, the ones after 75 had disc brakes
easist way to tell a dana 70 front from a dana 60 front is that on 70 fronts the tie rod is behind the front axle.
all my manuals are in storage or i could get a bit more specific. Also if its a 74-75 with original bodywork the front marker lights will be under the grill. If its a 78 the marker lights will be in the grill next to the headlights.
